Dyson Technical Ceramics are pleased to announce the introduction of a new graphite composite coating that will be applied to all zirconia metering nozzles used in exchangeable metering systems.
Graphite coatings are typically applied to the sliding surfaces of metering nozzles to lubricate the ceramic surface and provide a smooth introduction of replacement nozzles in exchangeable metering systems. The graphite coating has additional benefits of forming a seal between the upper and lower nozzles, which helps in preventing the re-oxidation of steel during continuous casting.
Following an extensive laboratory development project in conjunction with the world’s leading manufacturer of graphite lubricant coatings, an optimum composite coating has been developed. The new coating system, named Dyslip™ has provided encouraging results in oxidation tests when compared with standard formulations used previously by Dyson and our competitors.
Dyslip™ will be used at our West Hunwick manufacturing facility on all exchangeable nozzles from July 2017.
Richard Taylor (Managing Director of Dyson Technical Ceramics) commented:
“This innovation will further enhance our standing as one of the world’s leading manufacturer of Zirconia metering nozzles. I would like to thank our laboratory development team and our graphite coating supplier for the excellent collaboration in developing this new coating system. I believe that our global customers will benefit from this innovation during their casting operations. We remain committed to working closely with our customers to serve their requirements and optimise casting performance”.
