Following intensive training sessions at Dyson’s West Hunwick manufacturing site, five operators have completed their City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 diploma in Business Improvements Techniques. The course was completed in August 2018 and comprised of 12 x 3-hour training room and operational exercises to improve the production process in the manufacture of Zirconia metering nozzles. Dyson Technical Ceramics once again congratulates Liberty OneSteel, Sydney, Australia for extending their casting sequence record. On 5th December 2017 Liberty OneSteel Sydney achieved a record 124 heats. The sequence time was 106 hours, casting 10,540 tonnes of steel on their four-strand billet caster. This new record at Liberty OneSteel surpasses the previous achievement of a 112-heat continuous sequence that was achieved in July 2017. Dyson Technical Ceramics are pleased to announce the introduction of a new graphite composite coating that will be applied to all zirconia metering nozzles used in exchangeable metering systems. Graphite coatings are typically applied to the sliding surfaces of metering nozzles to lubricate the ceramic surface and provide a smooth introduction of replacement nozzles in exchangeable metering systems.
